Before DF got her hat...

...she was shyer than Fluttershy, as much a bookworm as Twilight, until she got her hat and felt like a different person whenever she wore it, becoming confident like Applejack.

Hehe, it's kind of my own private joke that I'm a wreck without my hat (kind of like Linus without his blanket).  I still read books though, and there's still some Fluttershy shyness I can't shake off, but I've improved a lot.
